ATLANTA -- The Hawks Dwight Howard said Saturday he doesnt have any problems with former teammate James Harden, who said the day before that he, too, has no beef with the 6-foot-11 center. The two were teammates for three seasons with the Rockets, and the relationship ended when Howard declined his player option. Howard signed a three-year, $70.5 million deal in July with the Hawks, whom the Rockets played on Saturday night.Everybody is always looking for a beef between a player when they leave a team, Howard said. Theres no beef. Both of us came from nothing and we made it. Ill never be mad or hate on another player because he made it. His dream came true. Im happy for him, and hopefully hell continue to play great.Howard did admit his three seasons with the Rockets had some inconsistencies. The team reached the postseason in all three seasons but had two first-round exits and a trip to the 2015 Western Conference finals, losing 4-1 to Golden State.Lots of ups and downs, Howard said when asked about the three seasons in Houston. We had a really good playoff run one year; other than that, just try to do what I can in the community, make Houston a better place and win.Last season the Rockets had a drama-filled season that ended with a 41-41 finish and them just sneaking into the postseason as the No. 8 seed. Harden said it was draining emotionally. The personalities of Harden and Howard seemed to mix well in the first two seasons. But last year, with Howard seeking the ball more and Harden becoming more of a leader, there seemed to be some friction. A source told ESPN toward the end of the season the relationship between the two was cordially bad.Theres always going to be stories, thats the nature of this business, people are going to make stories up, Howard said. I have no ill will toward any player in this league -- all of us have had to come from nothing to make it. I always wish him nothing but the best. I think hes a very talented player and has a great opportunity in front of him to lead a very young team, and hes doing a good job as an individual making plays, passing the ball great and hopefully hell keep it up.The Hawks beat the Rockets on Saturday night, 112-97, with Howard collecting 20points and 14 rebounds.
