PITTSFORD, N.Y. -- Buffalo Bills safety Aaron Williams is being evaluated for a suspected concussion, a team spokesperson said, after Williams collided with wide receiver Dezmin Lewis during an 11-on-11 drill in practice Thursday evening.Coach Rex Ryan told players in the post-practice huddle that Williams appears to have avoided a neck injury. Williams, a sixth-year safety, missed 13 games last season because of a Week 2 neck injury that required him to be transported from the field in an ambulance after he experienced numbness in parts of his body.Just to know the whole neck, collision thing, any time he collides, I mean, Im thinking about it, receiver Robert Woods said. I dont know if [Williams] is [thinking about it] or not, but when you see a guy go down like that who has a history with neck injuries, thats the first thing that comes to your mind. The team spokesperson said Lewis was being evaluated generally by the Bills medical staff. The two players, who apparently did not realize they were in each others paths, collided as Lewis ran a pass route close to the line of scrimmage. The loud sound of the contact quickly hushed the crowd, brought some teammates to a knee in prayer and generally changed the tone of what had been a slower-paced practice without full shoulder pads. When you look over and you see its [Williams], your thoughts go to his neck and those sorts of things, defensive tackle Kyle Williams said. As somebody whos been around him a long time, you get concerned for him. You say a prayer for him. Both players remained on the ground for several moments before Lewis, holding his right arm awkwardly, walked off with a trainer. Williams was surrounded by several members of the medical staff before he walked to the locker room with two trainers initially holding his arms. After being taken off the field in an ambulance in September, Williams attempted to return to play in October against the Tennessee Titans. He experienced numbness again in one side of his body, which resulted in the team placing him on injured reserve and Williams undergoing surgery to shave vertebrae in his neck.Williams was uncertain of the future of his playing career until he tested his neck while making a tackle during an intrasquad scrimmage last week. When I hit [running back James Wilder Jr.], I stopped and made sure that I could feel everything and I could turn my neck without feeling any pain, Williams said Saturday. I realized I was all good. It was a sigh of relief. Im super blessed that I can keep playing and do what I do. I love being with my teammates. I love being on the field with these guys.Standard Mouth Sports Cap Hydro Flask . -- Yogi Ferrell orchestrates pretty much everything in Indianas offence. They push you to the limit physically. We had to grind that one out.Przemek Karnowski scored 14 points to lead all players in scoring in a defensive battle that lifted the Zags to the best start in program history.Nigel Williams-Goss added 11 points for Gonzaga (10-0), which has won 10 straight to open the season for the first time since joining Division I in 1958.Few was not overly impressed by the winning streak.I live for the next game, Few said. I dont spend a lot of time looking back. But he allowed that he felt good about Gonzagas record. Im looking forward to getting better, he said.Isaiah Johnson scored 11 points, and Jimond Ivey had 10 for Akron (7-3).The Zips were undone by 27 percent shooting (16 of 60)Gonzaga shot just 40 percent and finished 24 points below its season scoring average.Johnathan Williams scored consecutive baskets and Gonzaga took a 31-25 lead early in the second half.Akron cut the Gonzaga lead to three points, but four free throws by Williams-Goss pushed it out again.Three-pointers by Ivey and Josh Williams cut Gonzagas lead to 42-40 with just under 10 minutes left in the game. But Jordan Mathews hit a 3-pointer to spark a 16-1 run that gave the Zags a 61-43 lead with 2:46 left. The Zips were held without a field goal for the final 8 minutes of the game.We got tired, Akron coach Keith Dambrot said. I was disappointed in how we finished.Dambrot has also been upgrading his schedule to put his players in tough situations. We are big enough to compete with the big boys, he said.Baskets were hard to come by in the ffirst half.dddddddddddd.A 3-pointer by Silas Melson helped Gonzaga build a 15-9 lead midway through the first half, as both teams went long periods without scoring. That lead held up as Gonzaga led 23-17 at halftime, despite shooting just 27.6 percent. Thats because Akron shot just 25.8 percent and missed all 11 of its 3-point attempts. Gonzaga had been averaging 45 points in the first half of its past four games. It was a season low in first half points for both teams. We didnt let our frustrations on offense bleed over to the defensive side, Few said. The teams only previous meeting was in the first round of the 2009 NCAA Tournament, won by Gonzaga 77-64.POLL IMPLICATIONSA tough win over a quality foe will not hurt Gonzagas poll ranking.BIG PICTUREAkron: Three players are averaging double-digit scoring, led by Isaiah Johnson at 15.2.
