For the first time in more than 14 months, Tiger Woods will tee it up inside the ropes in a PGA Tour event at the Safeway Open. The 14-time major champion is coming off multiple back surgeries and will kick off the year in the 2016-17 PGA Tour season opener. So what are realistic expectations for Woods at the Silverado Resort and Spas North Course? And what will his game look like under the tournament spotlight? Our panel of experts debate those topics and more in a Tiger-focused edition of Monday Four-Ball.1. What are you most interested to see from Tiger this week?SportsCenter anchor Matt Barrie: Body language. Sounds funny, but for the past two years, we havent seen Tiger play without some sort of limp, grimace, tightness or confidence. Watching him swing, walk and react will give us a decent indication about where he his health-wise.SportsCenter anchor Jonathan Coachman: I really want to see where his game is at. Can he be competitive right away or will it take a while? I am selfish and I want him to shoot a 64 right away, but I know thats probably not realistic. I would be encouraged if we saw Tiger in control of his golf ball and if he was able to shape it both ways. I know he will be fine, but I want it to come back fast.ESPN.com senior golf analyst Michael Collins:? Im anxious to see what he looks like at the end of his second tournament round. Round 1 will be on plenty of adrenaline. By Friday on his back nine, Tiger will be playing the game we can expect to see from him in the future. I also cant wait for his self-evaluation because you know hes going to come out with a new saying. Remember getting my glutes to activate?ESPN.com senior golf writer Bob Harig: Is he healthy? Can he swing freely, hit shots out of the rough, take an awkward stance in a bunker? And is he willing and able to practice after a round? All of these things go toward his overall health.ESPN.com senior golf writer Jason Sobel: The little things. Does he seem relaxed or stressed? Is he regularly stretching his back or does he look fully healthy? Will he try to work the ball both ways or will he have a singular go-to shot? A lot of little nuances that are better witnessed in person than on the TV broadcast.2. Why should we believe this comeback will be different?Barrie: He took his time coming back. The common thought about Tigers health is that hes rushed back numerous times, and it caused more harm than good. This time around, he waited until he felt right. If he is in fact healthy, and time was his best rehab, we could be in store for a fun storyline.Coachman: Because he took his time, did not get impatient and now is close to 100 percent. That is the biggest thing Tiger will need. He needs to go full speed in his swing and be confident in his short game. This year will be the reason he comes back better than ever. If anyone can climb back to the top, it is Mr. Woods.Collins:?We shouldnt. Tiger hasnt earned any trust from us when it comes to his health. I want more than anything for this comeback to last for two full seasons. Unfortunately, if he is in pain this week at the tournament, do any of you believe hes going to tell us? You must be thinking of Jason Day.Harig: Until we know for sure how healthy he is, Im not sure we should believe it will be different. But a good reason to believe it is the fact that he took more than a year away from the game this time. He didnt rush. He resisted the urge to play when he knew better. And lets be honest, there is no compelling reason to return now. He could have easily waited even longer. He must feel he is ready to go.Sobel: Every comeback is different; every comeback has varying degrees of success and failure. I wouldnt base anything that happens this week -- or in future months -- on what hes done while returning from past injuries.3. What will you consider a successful week for Woods?Barrie: Making the cut. I have zero expectations for his name to be on the leaderboard. However, his body and swing needs to be tested for four days of tournament golf. Including the galleries, the mileage and mindset thats required for competitive golf.Coachman: For me, its making the cut. Lets be honest. Tiger is not immune to pressure and if he hasnt played in over a year, it will naturally take some time. Tiger will tell you success is a win, but I think he even knows deep down it will be so hard to win this tournament. So our answers would be completely different.Collins:?It would be a successful week for Tiger to get through 54 holes without any pain, discomfort, limping, gimping or wincing. I say 54 holes because that would include the Wednesday pro-am and the first two rounds. After being gone for more than a year, low expectations are warranted, even for Tiger Woods.Harig: Playing 36 holes pain free, being able to properly practice after the rounds, showing signs of making progress by doing the routine things properly, such as the short game. If Woods misses the cut, that is not necessarily failure. It is the manner in which it happens that will ultimately determine the success of the week.Sobel: He hits some decent shots, doesnt reinjure himself and looks like hes having some fun on the course. Anything else is gravy. I wont judge his success this week solely on the scores and final result.4. More likely, Tiger shoots 70 or 80 in his first competitive round in more than a year Thursday?Barrie: 80. While I think hell be around a 76, this first round for him is going to feel like a major. All eyes are going to be on the greatest golfer in the past 40 years for a tournament that otherwise wouldnt get a second look. He knows this is his last chance at greatness. And his first round will likely be filled with rust and nerves.Coachman: If these are my two choices, I will say 80. I dont think Tiger completely will have all aspects of his game. And if things go south, they could really go south without knowing how his back will hold up or stand up to competitive swings. But we will all be watching with so much anticipation. I am hoping he gets on a roll and starts shooting darts like we know he can. This comeback is so exciting because we dont know what to expect. And that will be incredibly entertaining.Collins:?70*. Tiger hasnt forgotten how to play golf, at least I hope not. I dont know that hell break par, but hell be closer to 70 than 80 in Round 1. I added the asterisk because all this speculation is on the premise that hes 100 percent healthy making this start.Harig: Given that choice, I think you have to say 80, although Im not convinced that is what he will shoot. Silverado is not necessarily a hard layout. It is barely 7,200 yards and plays to par-72. Nobody shot in the 80s at this event a year ago and there were two scores of 79. It would be a poor sign if Woods returned shooting that high.Sobel:?I get the sense itll be closer to 70 than 80. But I also think itll be closer to 80 than 60. Ill let you figure out that math. VIENNA, Austria -- Mercedes motorsport boss Toto Wolff has praised the bravery of Nico Rosberg after the newly-crowned world champion announced his retirement from Formula One on Friday.Just five days after sealing his first world title in Abu Dhabi last weekend, Rosberg made the surprise announcement at a press conference ahead of the FIA prize giving gala in Vienna. The news leaves Mercedes with a huge decision as it prepares to replace the 31-year-old over the winter, but despite the headache it creates, Wolff -- who found out on Tuesday -- said he could not help but be impressed by the Rosbergs decisiveness. This is a brave decision by Nico and testament to the strength of his character, Wolff said. Weve known each other for four years now and one thing I admire with Nico is his clarity of thinking. Its black and white.Although you could have argued after three days of celebrating you need to become sober in order to take a decision! But that is not with Nico, he knows exactly what hes doing, hes in control of his thinking, so from the first moment he told me there was no doubt that this is the decision.Rosberg admitted he did not want to tell Wolff the news face to face as they returned from a series of press briefings in Malaysia, so instead waited until they were apart and informed his boss over the phone.I knew there was something as we spent a long time on the plane having dinner and talking about a lot of things, Wolff said. The moment I left the lounge in the morning to jump on the planne to Stuggart, Nico was going to Weisbaden, he called me.dddddddddddd I said Im coming back, he said dont come back!Wolff said there was no doubt Rosberg is bowing out as a deserving world champion. The result shows he won the world championship and he is the best driver in Formula One today. The points show that. The way I have perceived the last couple of races is that he was incredibly professional and did what was needed. That incredible winning streak at the beginning of the season built the foundations, and he just drove it home. The Mercedes boss said Rosberg leaves big shoes to fill on several levels.Hes left a huge legacy, first of all the way hes decided to leave Formula One is something thats unheard of, something that all of us admire in a certain way, to call it a day when youre at the top. Hes been part of the development since the early days and such a strong competitor. The team has performed because the balance is right between the drivers and the dynamics within the team, travelling to 20 grands prix a year, the energy is hugely important and Nico was a big contributor to that energy in the team. I could go on for ten minutes...Besides the know-how, his skill as a driver, setting up the car, giving us direction on the set-up and the development of the car, direction on how to put the car on the race track, the interaction with Lewis and the engineers.
